Drama Camp Feedback!

Feedback from 2008 Camp By Mr.

Thanks to you and David for having the drama camp! It was so much a blessing for
us! With the focus on Romans 12, I feel my daughter got as much spiritual meat
at drama camp as she might've at the teen retreat, as well as your taking time
for prayer and your overall emphasis on walking with God, without giving up
anything in the artistic dimension. It was amazing the amount of material they
learned - and delivered not dryly but expressively - in just a week!
and by Lorrie Flem Late last Friday night I spent some time just sitting outside
under the stars singing and praying, "It is well with my soul." We had gone to a
drama performance of Romans 12 that the girls were in earlier in the evening.
They had been at a drama camp that week and this precious time spent under the
stars was the result. Their performance spoke to me in such a wonderful way...I
just needed to praise the Lord for it.
The performance was SO powerful
and challenging and it was encouraging to see teens not just memorize scripture
but truly understanding what God is saying. Remember when Paul asks, "Who of you
teaches that does not learn?" (my paraphrase)?
These kids had taken in
God's words and His heart and, with the help of the directors, put together
skits, an allegory, a monologue, and scripture recitation that poignantly shared
the message. They challenged us to honestly look at our own prayer time and
evaluate if we are really honest and sharing our own hearts with God, instead of
praying what we think we are supposed to. I felt blessed to have been at the
performance, not just to see my girls' performances, but blessed to see how the
Lord had worked in their lives that week.
2007 Camp Guest Article by Bob Horn
 Hi all--
I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts about a very well-run Drama Summer Camp a couple of weeks ago. I had the privilege of seeing David Shelton Ministries' Transformed Drama Camp not just from the perspective of a board member, but also as a parent. My 11 year-old son, Kyle, attended the camp and thoroughly loved it. The week culminated on Friday evening with a 2-hour performance filled with nearly ten different scenes featuring every single camper.
I noticed several things during this week. First, I noticed what an incredible rapport Tonya established with the kids, ranging in ages from 9 to 18. She is a great leader and teacher as well as an encourager. Second, I noticed how this diverse group of kids developed friendships with each other. I stopped in during Wednesday's lunch and saw several groups around the room eating together. No one was left out, everyone was included. There weren't any 'loners.' Finally, and probably most importantly, I noticed the skill, experience, and passion, being transferred from David, Deb, and Tonya into a new generation of performing ministers. This was exceptionally well-highlighted at the conclusion of Friday's performance when David and Debra were on stage, next to Tonya, with all 30+ kids in front. They received the applause of the room by gazing upwards and pointing toward Heaven, just as their mentor David has done for nearly 30 years of ministry--keeping Christ in the spotlight. As I witnessed this, I immediately thought to myself, "There's the multiplication. Right there in front of me."
Thanks, David and Debra and Tonya, for an excellently run camp and, moreover, for pouring your lives into my son. I'm eternally grateful!
